Curtis Jones Field

The new athletic field of Verona Area High School, one of the finest in Wisconsin, will be dedicated tonight and named in honor of the late Curtis Jones.  we wish to thank everyone who helped to make this facility possible, including not only those who did the construction work but also the citizens of our school district.

Many of you knew Curtis Jones as a friend, neighbor, and as a civic-minded citizen.  He was well known as an athlete, as a businessman, as a community leader, and as a strong booster of worthwhile projects.

Mr. Jones was a member of the Verona Union High School Board of Education from 1958 until June 1961.  His dedicated efforts were largel responsible for acquiring this tract of land and developing our present high school facilities.

It is with a great deal of humility and pleasure that the Board of Education hereby dedicates, in his memory, this athletic facility to be known as "Curtis Jones Field."
